It's been thirty years since the war.

The United Earth Directorate suffered a massive blow, but have recovered quickly. They're new technological advances have made they're fleets almost three times as strong as they once were. The UED has also made peace talks with Korhal and have made allies with Emporer Mengsk II. They are preparing to launch their assault again.

Kerrigan, Queen of the Blades, has reinforced her broods and made them war ready for a strange feeling she cant shake. Whatever she feels, she knows the broods are stronger than ever, and she can easily swarm over any enemy.

Judicator Artanis has returned to Aiur and sewed the seeds of the Protoss civilization once again. He knows Kerrigan wont stop until there isn't a Human or Protoss breathing, but he prays to the gods they she remains passive so his people can prepare to fight again.

However, all three races now face a threat that they may not be able to stop. The Xel'Naga have returned to once again claim they're galaxy again. If this enemy can be stopped, it will require the power of all three races of the Xel'Naga's children.

What about Zeratul who swore that Kerrigan will regret leaving him alive and making him kill his Matriarch, and Jim Raynor who swore that Kerrigan would pay for killing Duke and Fenix. And 30 years is a bit too much. Maybe 15, 20 tops!
