|
|
Hi, I've been thinking Weather i should buy WoW or not because iam not quite sure if my system will run it proply, anyway here our my specs.
AMD ATHLON XP 2000+ 1.68 GHZ
512 mb of ram
Radeon 9200 ATLANTIS
Cable broadband.
Now, i am predicting i will lag like **** and end up quitting like i did with EQ2 ,which was hardly playable with these specs, so can anybody give me some feedback and pointers? Shall i save up my pennies and buy a new pc or will these specs be playable? |

Get another 512mb of ram and you will have no problems.
You just won't have the most amazing graphics. _________________ Level 60 Rogue on Warsong - Alliance (PvP) - 18/12/2004

Maybe look at buying a new GFX card?
I just bought a Powercolour ATI Radeon 9600pro EZ 256mg for around 100$US. I have very little graphics problems except when in laggy areas (like the major cities) - I have all the GFX options turned up to max. |

Yea, if you have the cash to buy a new video card, you should definitely go for it. A new video card with 128mb or more combined with 512mb of ram will help you a lot. I think they are the 2 most important component beside your cpu. _________________ Level 60 Rogue on Warsong - Alliance (PvP) - 18/12/2004

I dont beleive the game is that intensive on the CPU so i dont expect you'll have trouble with your 1.6gig chip. Altho i do have a bigger chip than you do, a friend of mine beta tested and he had a chip around the size of yours and claimed to have no problems.
Broadband is perfectly fine, in my limited tests i've found that the game itself doesnt download a lot of data, something like 17-20mb on a 4-5hr session, so based on that you could even play with dial-up (not that youd want to :p)
Bottom line the game is RAM hungry, thats probably your first required upgrade, get yourself to 768mg or higher, then if ca$h permits, get a 128mg or higher gfx card. You dont need to get the latest/greatest gfx card - my ati 9600 is fine speed wise, that extra GFX RAM helps a lot though.
Hope that helps |

Yea, you should have at least 768mb of ram and if you have enough money, get a new video card with 128mb. You should buy everything from ebay, you'll save a lot if you get a good deal. _________________ Level 60 Rogue on Warsong - Alliance (PvP) - 18/12/2004

Well if it's the case, just get more memory and you should be fine. Also defrag your hard disk and remove the spywares to speed up the game. _________________ Level 60 Rogue on Warsong - Alliance (PvP) - 18/12/2004

The games "Warcraft 3" style make it run easier so you won't need a that good prossessing speed, but 1gig RAM is always good.
These Specs:
AMD Athlon64 XP3400+ 2.4GHz
Geil 1024MB RAM PC3200 400MHz
Sapphire Atlantis Radeon 9800PRO 128MB
Nforce Gigabit NIC
Managed to run the game on 1280x1024 70Hz with everything on max. A little jumpy in the beginning 10 minutes (changed it in a capitol) and then it was good again.
So i will guess that if you are looking to play the game looking like HL2 then you will need a new PC, if not then just leave it be with more RAM _________________ I'm awake
