A Tale of A Troll #2
Actually, it¡¯s not far away from Sen¡¯jin Village.
It took Simomo and me only a night to get there. Leaving the lair, there were two directions for us to choose and I learned how to read guide boards at the fork in the road. These guide boards can foretell the direction you will take! Miraculous! Before that time, all I would do was to try luck on every road. Now it seems that same amount kipper will take me longer. I told Somomo what I¡¯ thinking. She laughed herself helpless.
¡°You are really a talented Mage,¡± she said.
¡°Why?¡± This is the first time I was called a Mage. Though I felt quite excited, I pretended not to show it. Mage village head! I should let them call me like that when I return!
At last, two or three buildings appeared in the morning haze. Sen¡¯jin Village was in sight. The aroma of toast kipper reached me. Unconsciously, I quickened my pace.
Sin¡¯jin Village was not big.
It was a fishing village rather than a stronghold. When I went to the village, Trolls all stared at me exhaustedly with anticipation, while continuing their work.
The Village head took over the letter, putting it aside without having a look. He was an old and sad Troll.
¡°Those Voodoos are on several shallow sea islands. They attacked us just now and are fermenting larger raids.¡±
¡°Who are they?¡± I put forward the question that I had prepared to ask long before. I thought this question could help solve their trouble, and more importantly, help me survive.
¡°Trolls, those wicked Voodoo Trolls! They have received power from superstition, death and horror and have done a lot of evil things. To make us more horrified is that they need more Trolls¡¯ skulls to finish an immolation.¡±
Shining white skulls? I felt my teeth ache slightly. I had never heard about this before. After having a careful consideration I decided not to ask the second question I had prepared, instead, I asked, ¡°how many more do they need?¡±
Actually, I planned to ask them how much kipper I could get when I accomplished the task. However, all of a sudden, I felt that if Voodoos just need two skulls, then the intention of Green Uncles were suspicious.
¡°Countless! If the rite can¡¯t be put to an end, all Trolls¡¯ skulls will be dyed!¡± The village head was so excited, ¡°Just like what they did to my younger brother!¡±
I felt relieved. Just when I was about to ask about kipper, Simomo came over.
¡°Can you say something about your younger brother?¡±
¡°He was killed. It¡¯s no big deal since fighting to death is his destiny. It was predicted ever since he was born. However, his skull was planted with candles. That is nothing, but following that, his skull was dyed green!¡±
¡°Haw, green?¡±
¡°The color he dislikes most!! His soul cried in my dream. He was so painful. He thinks even yellow is much better than green.¡±
Simomo gave me a kipper, which stopped me from asking another question. When I finished the kipper, the lovely Priest had also completed her inquiry. Simomo turned to me, starting to summarize what we were going to do.
¡°First, the Voodoo leader must be killed. He is a high level Voodoo Mage, same with all other vain and foolish evil leaders. He wears a red robe, easy to be recognized. His spells will make you lose strength and become smaller.¡±
¡°Second, we need to kill a certain amount of Voodoo Warriors and Mages so that they can¡¯t organize new raids and we have enough time to enhance our defense power. Finally, we must destroy all the skulls they have collected apart from the one belonged to the villager head¡¯s brother. We¡¯ll give it to the village head and he can dye it red, his brother¡¯s favorite color and his brother¡¯s soul will rest in peace and happiness.¡±
The village head led us to the seaside, after showing us the direction, he returned to the village when we disappeared in the distance.
The seawater there was warm and it was so clear that we could even see the bottom. When we felt tired, we stopped to have a rest on an island nearby to have some fresh lobsters and crabs. The shellfish there were very fierce and were active in a wide range, so their meat were delicious. When the lobsters turned red, I picked the white meat, stringed them up with thin wood sticks, inserted on the beach and lighted up a fire and spilled some salt on the lobster meat. When the meat turned golden, Simomo just couldn¡¯t resist the temptation to have two more.
¡°Can your god make food?¡± I summoned a bag of water and passed it to Simomo who was rubbing her hands in sand.
¡°Only when we need to do so,¡± she took over the bag, leaving me an empty reply.
Three days later, we arrived at the island that Voodoo Trolls located. That was the largest island near the shallow sea, with strange stone statues and isolated altars scattering here and there. Eventually, we were approaching the heart of Voodoo village, while trying our best to keep away from patrolling guards.
We saw that chap in red robe in the distance. His front teeth were long and crooked. Pyramids piled up with skulls could be seen everywhere, ghostly horrifying. I had forgot myself in that three-day happy beach life, but the cruel reality reminded me why I was here.
A guard walked toward us. Simomo and I couldn¡¯t find a safe place to hide us. The guard also had blue skin, just like me. He looked quite young, with long green hair and an ax in hand.
He was approaching. I could even see the details on his face. He swept his eyes back and forth, getting closer and closer to our hiding-place.
With her back toward me, Simomo held up three fingers, then two and finally one.
This was our agreed secret signal to initiate an attack. I felt glad for myself at that time, for it was the first time that I shared a secret with a girl. However, when the time for action really arrived, I hesitated.
The guard turned his face toward us, and at the same time he stepped on a dead branch, which snapped like a heavy thunder breaking out in my heart!
At the same time, Simomo raised her shield and cast spell on the shoulder of that young guard. ¡°Lon! Move!¡± The Priest said in a low and worried voice. Her spell was not powerful enough to match Trolls¡¯ natural healing speed. The guard¡¯s ax slashed toward Simomo. The spell power stopped the attack from the guard, but obviously weakened as well.
I began to recite the first Fire Ball, but my mind was so confused that I stammered out the curse. When the flame power was formed on the center of my palm, Simomo¡¯s shield had disappeared. With just a slash, Simomo¡¯s white robe was soaked with blood.
The fireball blasted behind the guard, tearing his simple leather armor and the high temperature stopped his wound from healing. The burnt smell mixed with miserable cries confused my consciousness. I noticed the guard let Simomo off and dived toward me. I ran away in panic. The guard followed me at my heel. Simomo¡¯s cries came unclear from behind.
I could only hear my hurried and disordered breath and my heart thumping. How I wish that this were only a nightmare!
Suddenly, I felt coolness on my back and then a burning pain. The guard threw his ax to hit me down and jumped over. When he pulled the ax from my back, it seemed the pain took my soul away. Instinctively, I turned around to fend off another hack with my arm. My hand bones were almost stumped. The guard grabbed my shoulder to pull the ax from the bones.
At that time, my heart seemed to stop beating and an unknown anger fueled up from the darkest place in my body, forcing back my confusing consciousness. Just like a devil pulled me away from my body and threw it aside, I felt my body was controlled by another kind of power.
I saw myself kick off the guard on my body, stand up and crazily cast the most lethal curses with my single arm. I summoned the most enormous power that I could collect, blasting toward the guard on the ground again and again with bloodshot eyes. The corner of my eye and my blue skin even turned into red.
I furiously used up my power and collapsed.
The dark anger retreated from my soul quietly, like tears falling down Simomo¡¯s cheek. I kneeled down beside the guard¡¯s corpse. That young Troll had nearly turned into a coal, lying on his back in a black pit burnt black.
Simomo, I called my companion¡¯s name. My tears fell down onto my stretching-out palms. I was so tortured by some kind of spiritual agony. Even my breath became weak. I groveled on the ground and broke into tears, making the hot sand cold.
¡°Simomo, I killed people,¡± I repeated again and again. _________________ ~~~http://game.91.com~~~
