The cost of WoW monthly can be from 5 to 20 dollars. Other MMO's have charged more.... Five bucks will be a dream, and ten I would think is reasonable.
Don't forget that Blizzard has to have 24 hour tech support. They have over 30 mods on the b.net forums. They have a lot of people to pay. Don't forget the tax reduction, advertising, b.net, and etc.
Blizzard intends to make a fun game, not a business deal. Unlike other MMO's its gonna be worth it for the game. |

| Yes, and there are many people like you. But I just can seem to be convinced of paying monthly fees for ONE game. |

I am going to guess 12.99.
I personally feel it is very convenient for the GameCard people, cause a prepaid 3 month subscription will only cost ya 40.00 plush 1.99 tax. _________________

Well, i only have time for one game at a time, so its ok for me. For people that play multiple mmorpgs, the situation is different.
I guess that if you prepay for 6 months or something, the monthly cost will be slightly below 10$. But that is yet to see |

Blizzard should have made Starcraft 2 even before WC3. Let's break down the facts.
The Starcraft series is more of a money maker than the Matrix series. The original Starcraft is the second greatest selling game of all time. The game sold and estimated over 8,000,000 copies. The game came out at 50$ and stayed at 50$ for more than 6 months when the bulk of those copies were sold. Let's go into the numbers
8,000,000 X 50 = and estimated $40,000,000
$40,000,000 dollars alone would have been more than enough to run that server for free, but let's go even further.
Now, they've made Warcraft 3, which has sold around 2,000,000(not counting copies since price drop) copies already at 50 dollars a piece.
2,000,000 X 50 = $10,000,000
That's 50 MILLION DOLLARS not even counting Frozen Throne. And I think it would be safe to increase th SC number to about 55 million because of the anticipation of a sequel.
65 million dollars. You'd able to run about 6 WoW servers free with that kind of money.
But of course, Blizzard has no fiscal intelligence to realize the massive money maker they created. |
OK, now take into account salary of employs, thats prolly over a 10 million a year, if not more. Then all of the software being made to distribute the game. Then running the servers for years on end. Yes, they still have profit, but of coarse like all corporate american, they are greedy. They know the demand is out there, so my not profit from it.
Basic Econ guys, come on |

Well, I would say that the cost of playing will be around 10 to 20 a month. Lets look at EverQuest in this case. But Blizzard does have a rep to maintain. I've been a b.net fan since Diablo. I've played and loved my Blizzard games online for free since I was 13 (8 years).
But, I would say that Starcraft II will come out after Starcraft Ghost. It makes some sense to the fact that you keep people waiting and waiting (and I've been waiting since Zeratul left the planet that Lt. Duran took over) and waiting somemore. So I suppose it is good business.
They have a cashcow with Starcraft Battle Chest right now also. Sales are still going to them for it, but by contrast the first two warcrafts could not keep up with SC since the beginning. WC III is a awesome game, but when I play it I still wish I had my friends from my clan back in SC BW. So there's a lot of consumer anticipation. The server expenses will definately be jacked up for Blizzard, plus the in house tech's to keep it running and to constantly battle the cheaters. 10 - 20 is what I say. _________________ Fox Davis, "Sometimes I feel like Superman, I just need to recoop" |
