Which races are in which factions?
Humans, Night Elves, Dwarves and Gnomes are in the Alliance, while Orcs, Undead, Tauren and Trolls are part of the Horde.
How many factions will there be?
There will be two factions at release, but there might be a third one in an expansion pack.
What is the attitude of the factions in World of Warcraft?
Opposing factions with be enemies.
Will NPCs attack players of opposing factions when they come into their town?
NPC guards will attack players from opposing factions if they enter a city. Players can prevent this by completing quests and becoming allies with the other faction.
Will there be total wars between the two factions in very large armies?
Yes, there will be areas specifically designed with this in mind.
Will players from opposing factions be able to party with each other?
No.
Will players from opposing factions be able to be in a guild together?
Most likely not.
Will people from other factions be able to communicate with each other?
Not at first, but you will be able to learn the languages of other races to communicate with them. The exception is the Undead; who know both Common and Orcish when they start.
Will people in the same faction but of different races be able to communicate with each other?
Yes. All Alliance races speak Common while all Horde races speak Orcish.
